We are excited to launch our Service Learning Blog for the Lower School. It is our hope that this will become a gathering place: to share, connect and learn. We will post stories, key happenings and thoughts around Service Learning in our school and in the world. We hope you will join us as we seek to find the meaningful, enriching intersection of learning and service.
The National Service Learning Clearinghouse defines Service Learning as “a teaching and learning strategy that integrates meaningful community service with instruction and reflection to enrich the learning experience, teach civic responsibility and strengthen communities.” We like to imagine a world where we actively seek the passion in each child and from that passion we intentionally cultivate the skills, competencies and behaviors to realize our power for good in the world. In so doing, we send forth the social innovators of the future.
