Paying it Forward

FullSizeRender 2For the past two years I have organized two garage sales, with a lot of help from my friends.  The first year we sold things my family no longer needed and raised over $1100 and donated it to Children’s Cancer Association.  Last year we sold more items my family no longer needed, and I asked other families to donate things too.  We raised over $1300 and donated it to The Knight Cancer Institute (and Phil Knight matched it because they raised so much more).  That felt pretty good!

I plan to keep the tradition going and host another garage sale this year!  I’ll donate all funds to UNICEF to help make the world a better place.  Do you want to help?  You can help in two ways:

Rising to the (Phil Knight) Challenge

The idea first started with my babysitter, Emily. One day, she came to work and asked us for some of our old things that we didn’t need any more because she wanted to sell them on eBay (and make a little extra money). I was wondering why we were giving our stuff to Emily instead of people who really needed things?  So, I asked my mom if we could sell our extra things in a garage sale.   At first, she said no, because she didn’t have the time.  But after about a month of me pestering her, she finally let me do it.  But, she made me promise do it myself.
